Tamba Aka Copper

Handhammered copper collections from Pune, India. Tamba means Copper in Marathi, the language spoken at the artisan hub in India. Artisans work along the Tambat Ali or Copper Alley in Pune to continue to preserve the hand hammering craft of making copper vessels. Each piece is hammered to shape in a rhythmic pattern. Tambats or Coppersmiths were once known to produce warfare and swords for the kings. Today, they make kitchen wares and decorative artifacts for modern living.
